UK Online is to donate £1 to the British Olympic Association (BOA) for every new customer that signs up to one of its internet services.

Under a three-year sponsorship deal with the BOA, UK Online has unveiled plans to provide each qualifying member of the 2004 Great Britain Olympic Team with a broadband connection.

New customers that sign up to UK Online, or existing customers that upgrade their connection, will help raise £1 each for the BOA. The ISP offers a choice of pay-as-you-go, unmetered and broadband packages.

Chris Stening, UK Online’s brand manager, said: "We are very proud to be supporting Team GB and providing them with high-speed, always-on internet access with UK Online Broadband. UK Online is encouraging the country to really get behind Team GB and cheer on the athletes."

At the UK Online Olympics site, you can keep up-to-date with the latest news and read exclusive diary content from some of the athletes. UK Online will support the BOA at the Olympic Games in Athens 2004 and the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006.

James Gibson, Britain’s breaststroke swimmer bidding for glory in Athens (pictured above), said: “When I am training, it is vital for me to keep in touch with my physiotherapist, sports scientist and coach on a day to day basis. I am really pleased that UK Online is supporting Team GB, and their involvement will inject money and communications technology into the team. Here’s to Athens 2004.”
