Tiscali beefs up broadband offering

Tiscali will launch a new range of broadband internet packages next month, including two usage-based services.

The ISP, which claims it is adding over 2,000 new DSL customers every day, will charge customers £19.99 a month for 512kbps broadband with usage limits.

One package gives you the option of 50 hours access a month, the other a 1gb monthly limit on downloading. Customers exceeding this limit will then pay 2p per minute on the 50-hour package and 2p per mb for the 1gb package.

Tiscali will automatically send you an email alert when you reach your limit and has capped the monthly bill for these packages at £50.

The ISP will also introduce a £29.99 1mbps broadband product in April based on BT’s DataStream product. This lets Tiscali use its own network, which reaches around 80 per cent of UK broadband enabled areas, to provide a broadband service. For others areas, Tiscali's 1mbps IPStream service will cost £34.99 a month.

All new packages will have no set-up fee and a free modem.

Mary Turner, chief executive at Tiscali, said: “We are now offering a choice of six broadband packages at great prices to suit all needs and pockets. In addition these new products will include free Tiscali Secure Mail anti-spam and anti-virus protection.”
