Gaming fans can enjoy a taste of hundreds of major online games with a new service from AOL launching in the next few weeks.

AOL members will be able to download free-to-play demo versions of games before deciding whether to buy a full version.

According to AOL, an agreement with games distribution company Trymedia Systems will give its members a “try before you buy option” for games including top PC games titles, card games and puzzles.

Each game comes as one complete download and requires no codes for access. After downloading the game, AOL members will be able to play an hour free demo and if they want to buy the game pay a fee online for the game to be instantly unlocked.

Kate Hall, director of entertainment at AOL, said: “We wanted to offer our members a wide range of downloadable games and an easy and convenient way to purchase the PC titles they want, without the hassle and delay of waiting for them to be delivered.”

AOL members will also be able to transfer the downloaded game to other computers, including laptops, and play without requiring an internet connection or CD.
