The team behind the special effects in Hollywood blockbusters including The Matrix, The Last Samurai and Mission:Impossible are now auctioning their services on eBay. In a move to publicise their expertise after their jobs were outsourced to another country, Gus Grubba and his squad of 3-D graphics boffins, anointed the E-Dream Team, are looking for new employers. The advert details on why they’re advertising their talent and what their ultimate aim is: “Our jobs were offshored because companies need to focus on the bottom line. We feel it is THEIR LOSS, YOUR GAIN. High-tech is really shaken up by offshoring. For us, we’ve been like a family for more than a decade so we are focusing our energies on keeping our team intact.” The advantage of hiring this team is extensively outlined, as according to the advert it “would take an employer years to amass our collective, synergistic talents.” Sadly, the winning bidder doesn’t win the team lock, stock and barrel, and it’s unlikely you could hire them to pep up your holiday videos. The victorious bidder only wins the right to negotiate a contract with the team. The cash that finally wins the right to talk to the team isn’t being pocketed either. Instead, it’s being donated to the George Lucas Educational Foundation, as the E-Dream Team “believe in the power of innovative learning environments – that’s what helped inspire our love of what we do.” The current bid on to negotiate a contract with the team stands at $761.55.
