Freeserve becomes Wanadoo

Freeserve will be renamed Wanadoo this spring, but has vowed not to change customers' email addresses.

Freeserve will be renamed Wanadoo this spring, but has vowed not to change customers' email addresses.

Wanadoo is the name of Freeserve's parent company, which bought it in December 2000, and uses the Wanadoo brand for its ISP in several European countries. Freeserve has been hinting that it would change its name since 2002.

Freeserve said its customers could expect a greater range of products and services and improved service and reliability.

It also stressed that its 2.6 million customers will not have to change email addresses. "For customers, there will be no change to their existing Freeserve email addresses or to the way they connect to the internet," the company said in a statement.
