Pictures of a burly American dressed in his ex-wife’s elaborate wedding dress hasn’t stopped shoppers on eBay upping bids for the dress to over $25,000. Rather than hold the dress burning party he wanted to, the seller was persuaded by his sister to sell the dress, which was originally worth $1,200, on eBay. Viewed by over two million people, the current bid far outweighs what the divorced husband, who has no plans for re-marriage at this time, was hoping for – tickets for a baseball game and some beer. He has even been forced to limit the sale to Pre-Approved Bidders after its popularity invited the unwelcome attentions of fake bidders. Posing in the dress, the seller admits that “it did make me feel very pretty. So if it can make me feel pretty, it can make you feel pretty, especially on the most important day of your life, right?” To avert the merciless ribbing of his drinking buddies and work colleagues, he has sensibly obscured his face. The husband has updated the page as the numbers contacting him have swelled, and he claims to have received five invitations to baseball games and three marriage proposals. Most useful of all has been his education in the world of bridal finery. “This has also been a learning experience for me. I got a lot of messages correcting me about the color [sic] of wedding dresses. For Russian Orthodox, they are blue. For Chinese they are red. Mexico has multi-colored [sic] ones.”
