An email worm calling for Hungarian patriotism was the most widespread virus alert at the weekend, experts said. Since Friday, more than half of all reported viruses have been blamed on the new W32/Zafi-B worm, according to Sophos. Zafi-B spreads itself via peer-to-peer filesharing systems and email using a wide variety of different languages. It first appeared in April, when the Zafi-A worm spread through Hungarian email addresses in the lead-up to the expansion of the European Union, and when run, displayed a political message calling for Hungarian patriotism. The latest version of Zafi-B displays a message box containing a text that goes one step further with calls for capital punishment. "We demand the government accommodates the homeless, tightens up the penal code and VOTES FOR THE DEATH PENALTY to cut down the increasing crime," it states. Computer users are advised to use anti-virus software and keep it updated.
