Movie-loving surfers have another online DVD rental service to choose from with the launch of easyCinema, the latest online offering from Stelios.
But according to the easyGroup chairman, its new pay-as-you-go rental service offers the best value method of renting DVDs.
The rental service, which is powered by Video Island - the company behind UK rental sites Screenselect, Tesco DVD Rental and MSN Online DVD Rental, offers a selection of 25,000 DVDs at £1.99 per rental. Customers can keep each film "for at least three weeks".
"Once again the easyGroup has lowered prices to consumers," said Stelios. "We are using the website of our cinema business so that consumers can choose whether to buy a seat online to visit our movie theatre or whether to rent a DVD to be sent to them."
According to Video Island and easyGroup, because research shows that 75 per cent of the 10 million UK adults who rent DVDs monthly rent less than four times a month, the "pay-as-you-go model is better value than the other online models available in the market today, such as from Amazon, which only offer a
subscription service".
Saul Klein, chief executive at Video Island, said: "This is the best value ever when it comes to renting DVDs. We are delighted to be joining with easyGroup to launch the country's first ever pay as you go DVD rental service."
In the next issue of Web User, out on Thursday 17 March, we tell you which DVD rental sites are worth paying a visit.
