Bouncebackability

An online petition for getting the word 'bouncebackability' into the English dictionary is gathering pace and now boasts over 4400 signatures. The petition, set-up by Tim Tricker, has 4477 names attached to it and is running ahead of a similar campaign by Sky Sports' Soccer AM show to also get the word accepted by lexicographers. The Oxford English Dictionary has cliamed the word will be accepted if it can be proven it is used on a regular basis. Results so far have been encouraging with countless uses of the word on the web, television and in newspapers. One company, bouncingparcels.com, found the word also helped its marketing. Two novelty DVDs, 'Slowmo Boy' and 'Slowmo Girl', which the company launched before Christmas, did not initially sell well. "We have seen sales pick up dramatically since then," said bouncingparcels.com founder, Robert King, "simply by adding the phrase 'Now with extra bouncebackability' to the packaging." It's easy to see why. You can sign the Tricker petition HERE or the SoccerAM petition HERE.
