ISPs plan broadband pricing revamp

Zen Internet is to cut the cost of its 1Mbps and 2Mbps broadband packages, while Telewest reveals it will double the speed of its 256Kbps service for no extra cost.
The ZenADSL Home 1000 service will drop from £34.99 to £29.99 per month and ZenADSL Home 2000 will fall from £44.99 to £34.99 per month on 1 June.
Stephen Warburton, commercial manager at Zen Internet, said: "We constantly review our pricing structure to ensure that we are providing our customers with value for money from their broadband package, in tune with market conditions.
Zen Internet also offers a 250Kbps service at £17.99 a month and a 512Kbps package for £24.99 a month. All packages have a £58.75 activation fee and no usage restrictions.
Meanwhile, Telewest is to double the speed of its £14.99 256Kbps package over the coming weeks. According to the cable company, the regional upgrades of its networks from 256Kbps to 512Kbps will take place between 4 and 31 May 2005.
The speed boost coincides with a revamp of Telewest's broadband range. The 256/512Kbps service is now known as blueyonder broadband, its £19.99 1Mbps service is known as blueyonder complete and its 2Mbps and 4Mbps packages are now known as blueyonder elite.
