Google has been forced to change the name of its mail service in the UK after a trademark dispute.

From today, Gmail accounts in the UK will be re-branded Google Mail, and all new accounts will have @googlemail.com addresses.

Google assured users that all messages are being sent and delivered as before.

The company has involved in a dispute regarding the Gmail trademark in the UK after another company registered the name at the patent office.

Google said it has tried to resolve this dispute through negotiations, but its efforts failed. It said it is “still working with the courts and trademark office to protect [the] ability to use the Gmail name”.
