Security companies have united in a fight against spyware, launching a discussion website for surfers to share their views on anti-spyware software.
McAfee, Symantec, Trend Micro, ICSA Labs and Thomson Cyber Security Labs have teamed up to create an identification and testing website for anti-spyware software.
The discussion portal is aimed at helping internet users understand how spyware works and which products are most effective for their system.
According to security experts, spyware is increasing at an estimated rate of 50 to 100 per cent per year.
Joe Hartmann, director of the security intelligence research group at Trend Micro, said: “The spyware threat is growing as are the number of victims. Working together is our professional responsibility to the global community as well as social responsibility to our customer-base."
Last week, a group made of internet experts and technology companies launched the Stop Badware Coalition to fight against spyware and malware.
