Microsoft has unveiled a beta search interface that will replace MSN Search. Called Windows Live, Microsoft is hoping the cleaner new look and improved functionality will help it gain ground lost to Google and Yahoo. Christopher Payne, corporate vice president of Windows Live Search at Microsoft, said: “We’re unveiling a range of innovations that deliver an outstanding level of power and simplicity to search.” New features include tools for helping people quickly find, view, organize and preview search results. Within Windows Live Search, people can also search across specific search categories, including all-new image search, news search, RSS feeds, e-mail search, local search, and searching of MSN Shopping and MSN Spaces. Other features let users save and share specific queries and searches. Two of the other major search engines Lycos and Ask have also launched new services this year. http://www.live.com Click for a free sample issue of Web User
