More than 100 million videos are watched on YouTube each day, the company has revealed.
The free website lets people download a wide variety of clips – from short, home-made videos to pirated TV shows and sports.
Since launching late last year, YouTube has come dominate the online video market, with to 29 per cent of the US multimedia market, according to web-monitoring company Hitwise.
YouTube said visitors watched 2.5 billion videos on the site last month, with 60 per cent of traffic coming from the US.
