NTL:Telewest and Virgin Mobile are offering a launched new package offering broadband, TV, home phone and mobile phone for £40 a month.
The new service, dubbed quadplay, offers an up to 2Mb broadband connection with no limits on downloads, digital TV, unlimited weekend calls to any UK landline and a Virgin Mobile SIM card.
NTL:Telewest and Virgin Mobile are expected to re-brand next year after the three companies merged this year.
Neil Berkett, chief operating officer of NTL:Telewest, said: “Quadplay demonstrates the unique power of the cable-Virgin Mobile union and this is just the beginning. Our new package represents unbeatable value while meeting a wide range of consumers’ entertainment and communication needs.”
Chris Williams, communications expert at independent price comparison and switching service uSwitch.com said:
“By bringing mobiles into the fold of its existing bundle of three products, NTL is effectively providing a £10 per month mobile deal. Although it’s good value for those who want all of the products on offer, consumers need to take a step back and fully understand what they are getting for their money before they take the plunge of signing up to one company for all of their products.
“On the surface this looks like a good package but it is launching into a market that is full of other competitive deals. With a basic understanding of their needs and a bit of shopping around consumers can make sure they get the best deal for them.”
