Apple is planning to launch two iPod mobile phone models in January next year, if reports are to be believed.
The internet is buzzing with rumours about Apple launching the next-generation mobile handsets, which will be based on the iPod and include Wi-Fi capabilities.
According to reports in the US, Apple filed for a trademark on the product name 'iPhone' last month, suggesting that it plans to launch a iPod mobile phone soon.
In the filing, Apple describes the 'iPhone' as a "handheld and mobile digital electronic device for the sending and receiving of telephone calls, faxes, electronic mail, and other digital data; MP3 and other digital format audio players," the Apple Insider site claimed.
Last year, the company collaborated with Motorola and Cingular Wireless, the mobile service provider, to launch the Motorola Rokr, which offers a mobile version of iTunes.
