A website has been launched to help Britons find out more about the switch to BT's next-generation telecommunication system, the 21CN network.
The UK’s communications industry watchdog Ofcom has teamed up with BT to launch the Switched-on campaign. The campaign is intended to inform customers about the switch that will see BT shifting all voice and data services onto a single IP network that will enable fixed, mobile, voice, data, and video on-demand at speeds of up to 24Mbps.
Visitors to the website will be able to find out more about Switched-on events, which will start in Cardiff in November.
The site aims to answer questions about the switch including when it will start for each area and how it will affect customers. Information for your local area can be found by entering your telephone number.
According to BT, "21CN is an advanced broadband network based on intelligent systems, Internet Protocol (IP), Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS).”
