The Danish court has ordered one of Europe’s largest ISPs to block its subscribers’ access to a MP3 music service.
According to the IFPI, a Danish court ruled that Tele2 must block its Danish customers' access to AllofMP3.com, a Russian-based music website that sells copyrighted music tracks.
The case was filed last July by the Danish recording industry, who wanted to force Tele2 to stop its customers visiting AllofMP3.com.
“We warmly welcome the enforcement court's decision. This decision eliminates any doubt that people may have about the illegality of Allofmp3.com,” said Jens-Otto Paludan, chairman of IFPI Denmark and managing director of Universal Music Denmark.
“AllofMP3 is an illegal service, which cheats artists and producers of millions of kroner every year. With this judicial decision we can, at last, bring one of the most provoking pirate services’ activities in this country to an efficient standstill,” he added.
According to the IFPI, Allofmp3.com claimed to be licensed by Russia-based society ROMS, which has no mandate from international rights owners to license the site in or outside Russia.
Recently, 8,000 legal actions against alleged illegal file-sharers were announced in 17 different countries.
