Vodafone is offering its mobile phone customers the chance to sign up for an unlimited broadband package for £25 per month.
Vodafone announced the details of its long-awaited broadband service this morning.
Called Vodafone At Home, the service will cost £25 per month and includes free telephone calls from your landline to any other UK landline and unlimited broadband use. The fee also covers the landline rental charge.
Using BT Wholesale's broadband network, the service is available to Vodafone consumer contract customers. This means that you will need to be have a mobile phone on Vodafone's network to be able to sign up to the service. Vodafone currently has 16.3 million customers in the UK.
The Vodafone At Home service requires customers to sign an 18-month contract, which will be separate from any existing mobile phone contract you have with Vodafone. However, if you cancel your mobile contract, the Vodafone At Home service will cost you £35 a month rather than £25.
Vodafone is also offering users of its broadband service the chance to by a discounted Mobile Connect USB modem so they will be able to use Vodafone's 3G broadband network on the move. The USB modem is being offered at £58, though they usually cost £116. There is also the option to buy a wireless router for your home for £25.
The service will not be available until early in January next year, but you can register your interest in the service on the company's website.
"Vodafone at Home will provide nationwide broadband coverage from day one, as well as offering the flexibility and convenience of going wireless at home and being able to access the internet on laptops when out of the home on Vodafone's 3G broadband network," said Tim Yates, director of Vodafone UK's Consumer Business Unit.
