European internet users spend more than 11 hours a week browsing the net, new figures show.

European internet users spend more than 11 hours a week browsing the net, new figures show.

An increasing number of Europeans spend time online sending emails, making internet phone calls, using instant messaging and online forums, according to research conducted by the European Interactive Advertising Association (EIAA).

The EIAA claimed that 45 per cent of European internet users go online every day and visit social networking websites at least once a month.

According to the figures, 31 per cent of European internet users download music at least once a month, while 15 per cent make phone calls on the net.

UK, France, Norway, Sweden and Denmark have the most broadband connections with 85 per cent broadband penetration.
