Channel 4 has today officially launched its on-demand video service that allows you to watch your favourite programmes when you choose.

The service is called 4oD and users will be able to buy television shows for as little as £0.99. Content on offer includes Peep Show and Time Team.

Though the service has been available since 6 December, today's official launch is to coincide with the new series of Celebrity Big Brother, which begins tomorrow.

The 4oD application is available to download from Channel 4's website and programmes will be available to download using the app for 30 days after they were first broadcast on the channel.

"On-demand is the future of television. The internet means that you're not restricted to what schedulers want you to watch... [it] is going to totally change the way people watch TV."
