Broadband provider PlusNet is telling customers that they should not be afraid of BT's planned takeover.
All conditions of the offer that BT made to PlusNet in November last year have been satisfied and the way is now clear for a takeover.
PlusNet has moved to reassure its customers that this will be for the best in a statement on its website.
"BT has consistently maintained its intention is to keep PlusNet as PlusNet, such is our reputation; so customers will remain as PlusNet customers and not become BT customers," said Neil Armstrong, product director at Plusnet.
PlusNet was one of the worst performers in last year's broadband satisfaction survey conducted by uSwitch, with satisfaction levels plummeting from 92 per cent to 76 per cent.
However, the company is convinced it can offer a service that will please its customers once it becomes part of BT Retail.
"The new relationship with BT will allow us to make investments [and] deliver more quickly on our longer-term plans, which would not necessarily have been possible in other circumstances... at the same time we intend to do things our way and to continue to be the PlusNet you selected," said Armstrong.
The company will also be opening its doors to the public for one day. Customers will be able to meet the team in PlusNet's Sheffield offices on 30 March, though the date is subject to change.
