No more free PCs from Redten

Broadband provider Redten Internet has ended its free PC and £20 per month broadband as it "has run out of free PCs".

"Unfortunately, Redten Internet has run out of free PCs. In the interests of our customers, and to limit waiting times, the broadband with free PC offer has therefore been temporarily suspended," a note on Redten's website said.

"We are currently working hard to fulfil all existing orders and hope to be in a position to reinstate the offer soon. In the meantime, we would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused."

The deal was launched back in November 2006. At the time, a Redten spokesman told Web User that there was no upper limit to the amount of ‘free’ PCs the company could provide as “we are working with one of the largest component suppliers in the UK”.

However, that company - Watford Electronics - was bought out last week.

In a statement on the Savastore website, Globally Ltd said it had bought Savastore's owner, Watford Electronics.

Globally said it would “endeavour to fulfil all unshipped Savastore.com orders” and will not charge customers until orders have been dispatched.

"It is Globally Ltd’s intention to invest heavily in the underlying technology behind Savastore.com, and to provide a platform that will enable it to resume and expand upon Watford Electronics’ existing business," Globally told Watford Electronics' existing customers.

RedTen Communications, formerly known as Call Secure Ltd, is registered at the same address as Watford Electronics, its parent company, and Globally Ltd, the new owner of Savastore.com. However, it is thought that Globally has not bought the Redten part of the business.

Anyone who wishes to sign up to Redten's free PC and broadband offer is invited to leave their email address, and Redten will inform them when the offer has been resumed. Any existing Redten customers or anyone who has placed an order with the company and has not yet received their PC should email care@redteninternet.com
