Ticket agency ceases trading

Ticket Tout Limited (www.tickettout.com) has gone bust, affecting thousands of people who have paid for tickets to see top artists including Beyonce Knowles and Elton John, sports events, ballet, opera and theatre.

Insolvency firm Valentine & Co is dealing with the fallout from the online ticket company with the strapline "Where nothing is ever sold out!" and were appointed as administrators on 6 March.

Aron Taylor, case administrator, confirmed: "Ticket Tout has gone into administration. There is a helpline people can phone."

A letter sent out to creditors on 7 March said: "The company has ceased to trade and is unable to fulfil its obligation to you as a creditor and customer."

It said the company has closed its London premises and warned: "A vast number of customers are expecting tickets for future events, regrettably the company will be unable to provide these to you as it is not in possession of the tickets."

It is estimated that up to 6,500 people could be affected with an average claim of £218. A spokesperson for Consumer Direct said it had received "a fair amount of calls" from disappointed Ticket Tout customers and advised affected customers to phone their credit card company to see if they can make a claim.

"Under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act, people who have bought goods over £100 may be eligible to make a claim against their credit card company. They can also contact the administrators and make a claim as a creditor," said the spokesman.

Consumer Direct's spokesman told Web User that customers who have bought tickets online for less than £100 can still try and make a claim, but it is down to the individual credit card company. "We are trying to mange peoples expectations as the claims process can prove unsuccessful," he added.
