Now when you use Google's Book Search facility you'll be able to find records for books that don't yet exist in digital form.

Previously, only books that had been digitised were searchable using Book Search, but now reviews, summaries and comments can be found for titles that are only available in hard copy.

"We're doing this because we want to offer users the most comprehensive book search in the world - whether it's a book you can read online now, preview samples, see a few snippets, or just read what others have written about the book," said Adam Mathes, product manager of Google Book Search.

As well as finding information about books that aren't available to read online, there are links to where the book can be bought online.

"We want all our users to be able to discover all books, to learn more about them and to be able to find copies wherever possible - online or offline," said Viresh Ratnakar, software engineer on Google Book Search.
