The government has launched an online 'carbon calculator' that will allow you to find out the size of your carbon footprint.
The calculator will also suggest steps you can take to reduce your carbon footprint, such as improving insulation and fixing dripping taps.
Environment secretary David Milliband MP explained the reasons for launching the service in a letter.
"Things we do in our everyday lives have an effect - good or bad - on the environment. And more than 40 per cent of the UK's carbon dioxide emissions come from our homes and travel," wrote Milliband.
"Most of us have become a bit greener already - for example, nearly all of us are into recycling now - but there are lots of other things we can do to reduce our impact on climate change," Milliband wrote.
Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) also asked for members of the public to email their ideas and concerns about the issue of climate change, to actonCO2@defra.gsi.gov.uk.
