Reports suggest that O2 has won the battle to be the service provider for Apple's iPhone when it launches in the UK.
Reports in this morning's press suggest that mobile operator O2 has won the battle to be the service provider for Apple's iPhone when it launches in the UK.
O2, owned by Spanish firm Telefonica, seems to have snatched the prize away from under the noses of Vodafone, who was tipped by industry insiders to win the iPhone contract.
The device, which combines mobile phone capabilities with internet browsing and an MP3 player, has a touch-sensitive screen and could cost around £300 when it goes on sale here.
Rumours suggest that October would be the earliest UK launch date but Apple has a reputation for springing surprises.
The iPhone launched in the US last week.
