A fire in the building where CD Wow's warehouse is located has affected deliveries to customers. CD Wow, a Hong Kong-based music retailer, has apparently suffered interruptions to its business as lifts in the building were rendered unusable as an investigation into the causes of the fire took place. This meant that no goods could be received in or dispatched out. An email from CD Wow's customer service director, Tammy Stewart, to a disappointed customer and seen by Web User suggests that the fire also affected systems used to inform those purchasing CDs when goods are out of stock or have been delayed. "No goods could be received in/dispatched out as the elevators were out of service whilst the Fire Department carried out their investigations as to how the fire occurred. "This also affected the systems which we use to send out notification of items being delayed/out of stock since we could not access the building to send such email notifications," the email read. Stewart confirmed the fire had affected operations when questioned by Web User and also revealed that a firefighter had been killed tackling the blaze. However, she moved to reassure us that CD Wow was dealing with the backlog of orders as quickly as possible. "It has been a frustrating and distressing time for everyone concerned and we have been working very hard getting the operational side of things back to normal as quickly as possible so that we can fulfill the outstanding orders," Stewart said. The fire will have come as a blow to the company having only recently been fined £41 million for reneging on a deal it had struck with the British Music Industry not to sell imported CDs in the UK.
