Listen to Rebus tracks online

If you're a fan of Ian Rankin's Edinburgh-based detective Rebus, you can listen to his favourite tracks at Last.fm. Featuring Hawkwind's Silver Machine and Wilson Pickett's Mustang Sally, there are fifteen tracks in all. Rankin has also chosen his own personal favourites, with Atmosphere by Joy Divison and Berlin by Lou Reed among them. The next book in the Rebus series, published by Orion, goes on sale on 6 September. "I really wanted to focus on the music aspect of the books as this potentially will be Rebus' swansong, and I think that there are so many opportunities now to exploit the specific cultural and musical crossovers that are important to Ian's writing," said Orion's senior marketing manager Claire Brett. A special area of the site has a cover image of the new book, as well as an audio extract. Last.fm is a social music network where you can pick the style of music you want to listen to and get recommendations for further listening based on the choices of other users.
