If you're buying a new computer but are concerned about what your kids might get up to while using it then help is on hand at your local PC World. Retailer PC World will be offering parents free help when they buy a new computer, allowing them to restrict the amount of time their children are able to use it. The service is being offered after PC World found that 82 per cent of parents were worried about the online safety of their brood, but 70 per cent thought their kids would be educationally disadvantaged if they were not able to use a PC at home. Keith Jones, managing director of PC World, said: "What parents are telling us is that PCs and laptops are essential educational tools for their kids but that they carry risks. "I’m a dad myself and am convinced that the internet is a brilliant resource that democratises information and opinion, but it does also carry inappropriate and dangerous material," Jones continued. The move is part of PC World's 'Children's Charter', which commits the company to offering free advice and support to concerned parents. Broadcaster Lorraine Kelly said: "Kids these days have never had it so good and yet in a way they’ve never had it so difficult as well. For adults technology can be bewildering, but we are at least able to exercise our experience and judgement in figuring out what to do with it." www.pcworld.co.uk
