Films premiered at this year's Raindance Film Festival will also be shown online by internet service provider, Tiscali.
The digital festival, which aims to turn Raindance into a globally accessible broadband experience, begins on Wednesday and will showcase some of the best new independently made films from around the world.
Tiscali's Raindance site will show six films at 9pm on the day of its launch and also offer visitors access to trailers of forthcoming films as well as highlights from previous days.
Alex Hole, online media director at Tiscali said: "Tiscali has worked with Raindance for the last three years and they totally embrace the power of the internet. Rather than seeing the web as a threat to creativity, Raindance shares our view that the internet is a fantastic vehicle for independent film.
The film Carambola starring Diego Luna and directed by Kurt Hollander, will be exclusively premiered online ahead of its 2008 launch.
"This project follows our strategy of providing users with unique high-quality content, and reinforces our strength in the film arena," said Hole.
The festival runs until 7 October, and will feature films such as South Coast, a documentary about Fatboy Slim, and low-budget British film The Inheritance.
Tiscali and the Raindance Film Festival have teamed up in the past, broadcasting the premiere of 2005's winning film EMR live and online simultaneously.
Elliot Grove, founder of Raindance, said: "Tiscali has continually challenged us to take independent film further online. This year, a major part of the festival programme will be available online with seven feature films and 15 shorts."
