Patches for several Microsoft products, including the Internet Explorer browser, have been released.
Microsoft has issued a raft of fixes for its software products, including one to fix a number of vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer.
The popular web browser has several issues addressed in the cumulative MS07-057 patch, which is rated as 'critical'.
"The vulnerability with the most serious security impact could allow remote code execution if a user viewed a specially crafted webpage using Internet Explorer," Microsoft reported.
'Critical' is the highest rating for a security patch, and means that you should install it as soon as possible as it could allow a hacker to access your system if left unpatched.
Other critical updates issued this week include fixes for vulnerabilities in Word and Outlook Express.
Microsoft also explained why it only released six patches when last week it said it would be issuing seven.
"We decided to remove one of the updates from the release schedule due to a quality control issue, so we can resolve that issue prior to releasing the update to customers," said Tami Gallupe of Microsoft.
If you have Automatic Updates enabled on your PC, the fixes will be delivered and installed on your PC without any intervention. However, if you do not have Automatic Updates enabled you are advised to visit the Windows Update website now.
