Heath Ledger found dead

Hollywood actor Heath Ledger has been found dead in his New York home in what some news reports claim was a possible drug-related case.

Australian-born Ledger was an Oscar nominee for his role in Brokeback Mountain and stars in the upcoming The Dark Knight Batman movie as the Joker.

According to showbiz website TMZ.com, which is offering regular updates on the breaking story, law enforcement has confirmed to it that prescription pills were found near Heath Ledger's bed.

The entertainment site reports that the NYPD said a masseuse arrived at Ledger's apartment and was let in by a housekeeper. When Ledger didn't answer his bedroom door, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened it and found him unconscious.

Fans websites including www.heathledger.net, www.heathbaby.com and www.heathledger.com have been unavailable since news of Ledger's death was announced.
