A third beta version of the open source web browser, Firefox 3, has launched.

Mozilla, the creators of Firefox, is asking surfers to download the beta version and give the company feedback concerning the new features and any bugs they find.

New and improved features include fixes for "stability, performance, memory usage, platform enhancements and user interface", according to Mozilla.

There is a new Download Manager which makes it quicker and easier to download files, and an update Malware Protection feature, which warns surfers when they arrive at sites that are known to install spyware and viruses.

Feedback can be entered at www.bugzilla.mozilla.org and www.feedback.mozilla.org.

The first beta version of Firefox 3 was issued in November last year, with the second version following in December. Beta 3 is expected to be the last beta release before the full version is launched, though a firm date has not yet been set.

Release notes for Firefox 3 beta 3 can be found here.
