Filming of the second season of KateModern, Britain’s first internet-only drama, has started in Edinburgh with Royle Family star Ralf Little on board.
Actors from the internet drama are currently scooting round George Square in the Scottish capital frantically piecing together scenes from the crime drama which are available to view daily from social-networking site Bebo.
The second season is already attracting two million visitors a week. Comedian Ralf Little said: "Under normal circumstances you would already consider KateModern a ratings hit, but the trouble is no-one has ever tried this before in Europe so there's nothing to compare it to."
KateModern is the brainchild of Miles Beckett, a medical school drop-out and former lawyer Greg Goodfried, who launched a similar project in the US called LonelyGirl15.
The show featured ‘Bree’ as LonelyGirl15, who was pursued by a sinister organisation called The Order, which eventually killed her to discover the secrets of her rare blood type.
KateModern kicked off last year in London, picking up where LonelyGirl15 left off with The Order moving to London in search of fresh blood.
The second series sees Kate’s friends organise a manhunt to discover who killed the internet heroine.
"It's just another way for artists to express themselves, which will give us more scope to broaden our horizons and hopefully lead to more jobs for us all," said Ralf Little.
