Security firm Bullguard is asking gamers to beta test a new version of its software designed specifically to cause as little disruption to gameplay as possible.
Gamers often switch off their anti-virus and firewall protection when playing online games as the programs can drain system resources, making gameplay slow and putting them at a disadvantage against their opponents.
However, this causes security problems as an unprotected PC is relatively easy to hack into, with criminals able to steal data and take control of the computer.
Bullguard has developed a security suite designed to tackle this problem, which will activate a function designed to make the game and security protection work in harmony.
The software will recognise the game you are playing and initiate a profile specifically designed for that game.
The company is offering the chance for you to get involved with the beta testing of Bullguard Gamer's Edition for free. You can register your interest on the Bullguard website.
Testers will be asked to provide feedback about the performance of the beta code to contribute to the development of the final product, the release date for which is as yet unconfirmed.
