Beginning today, social-networking site Bebo will be showing a new online drama called Sofia’s Diary. The series stars the eponymous Sofia, and like KateModern, another of Bebo’s online dramas, viewers will be able to catch up on all the action as it happens on the website. The drama is aimed at teens – of which Bebo has no shortage with more than 40 million registered users, the vast majority comprised of teenagers. The drama revolves around 17-year-old Sofia Taylor, played by Rachel Hyde-Harvey, who is sent to live in London with her dad and his family after accidentally blowing up part of her school. Fans will be able to get a role in the directing chair as each week they will dictate to Sofia what choices she should make regarding an important decision in her life. The drama is funded through adverting and product placements. Last week Bebo confirmed a deal with the makers of Pearl Drops to integrate the tooth-whitening product into the series. Shot on location in London, each episode will air for two to three minutes daily. Sofia’s Diary was originally conceived in Portugal but has since been adapted for mobile and web and platforms in the US, Turkey, Brazil Germany Chile, Vietnam and now the UK. www.bebo.com/sofiasdiary
