What's your web age?

A new website is giving you the chance to find out if you are a net newbie or an online veteran by taking a test.

What is your web age?

A new website that helps you gauge how web-aware you are has been launched.

The site, www.myinternetage.com, asks you to take a test and rates you on how well you understand the internet, the way it works, and the dangers it poses.

The internet age scale runs from 0-16, reflecting the number of years the internet has been around. The site is part of a project between Orange and the University of Central Lancashire.

Questions include 'how easy do you find using a webcam?' and 'how many times in the last six months have you made new friends online?'

Experienced surfers should score a higher number, with newcomers placed towards the lower end. The information gathered from the tests will be used to help understand the attitudes of different generations to the web.

Christèle Delbé, head of Corporate Responsibility at Orange, said: "Internet safety messages often fail to have the desired impact because there is a gap in understanding between parents and their children about how they each use the internet.

"We now need to develop resources for schools that effectively tackle the 21st century realities of online safety, by encouraging young people, their teachers and parents to work together," Delbé continued.

You will also be entered into a prize draw if you take the test, giving you a chance of winning a holiday, LCD TVs and mobile phones.
