Israeli agents launch blogs

Four Israeli agents have started a blog in a bid to attract more high-tech recruits into the secret service.

Even the Lords are at it, so why not the secret service? In its bid to attract new recruits, Israel's domestic security agency, Shin Bet, has given four of its agents permission to blog.

However, don't expect to encounter the world of espionage and double agents as you would see in a good 007 film.

Instead the four agents, who use silhouetted profiles, blog about their office jobs, which to a large extent are no different than those of millions of other workers the world over.

One of the secret agent bloggers, identified as Agent A, who works as a program engineer, says that his job is not as glamorous as he had hoped.

"I didn't get a siren to put on my car and I too have to sit in traffic jams," he writes. "This post will self-destruct in 10 seconds."

Another agent, this time Y, enthuses that he took the job so that he could spend more time with his family.

"You don't stay at work unless you really have to. It's rare for me to come home after 6.30pm."

The blogs are in Hebrew.
