RSPB birdwatch results online

The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds has made the results of its Big Garden Birdwatch available online.

RSPB

You can get a county-by-county breakdown of the types of birds spotted in gardens around the UK at the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch site. Twitchers around the country were asked to make a note of the different species they spotted in their back gardens, sending the results to the RSPB for collation. The RSPB has listed the results on its website and also offers a county-by-county breakdown of the types spotted in a PDF (portable document format) file. Results show that finches are thriving, despite an overall drop in the number of birds spotted. And there is bad news for house sparrows whose numbers have decreased by two-thirds since 1979. Despite this, they remain at the top of the table. www.rspb.org.uk/birdwatch
