Farcebook: the anti-social network

Two software engineers have created a parody of Facebook that lets you search for your enemies.

Web User: Keep tabs on your enemies with Farcebook

If you've tired of Facebook and are ready for the next revolution in social networking then maybe Farcebook is the site for you.

Billed as the social network for anti-social people, Farcebook parodies the world's most popular social-networking site and is built on a whole heap of irony.

The slogan for the new site uses the Chinese maxim: "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer."

Farcebook follows in the footsteps of Hatebook, another anti-social network site that "disconnects you from the things you hate."

Farcebook's founders, software engineers Christopher Myers and Justin Davis, told Web User that the site is trying to "poke fun at some of the absurdities within our industry".

"Farcebook is a commentary on social networks. The idea was that by turning the social network upside down, we might convince people to reevaluate the role of social networks in their lives," they continued.

Farcebook lets users keep track of their "enemies, remind their enemies that they’re still out there, and to generally annoy their friends".

As with Facebook you can set up your own profile but instead of searching for friends on the network your search is limited to foes.

Writing in the blog 'Code Irony', the duo behind Farcebook say that their "anti-social network site" will help people keep tabs on their enemies.

"It’s easy to keep track of people we genuinely like, but hard to keep track of everyone we don’t like. Not to mention that it seems our list of enemies seems to grow much faster than our list of friends."

The owners have also expressed their wishes to cash in on the site's potential success, based on Bebo's sale to AOL for £425m and Facebook's $15bn valuation.
