Coffee Republic to offer free Wi-Fi

Coffee Republic has thrown down the gauntlet to Starbucks and Costa by offering 'free' internet access to customers.

Coffee Republic is to provide customers with free internet access as long as they keep topped up on coffee.

While the chain is not the first to offer Wi-Fi, as Starbucks has been doing this for a number for years, it is the first coffee chain to roll out free internet access to all its customers in the UK.

The service is to be provided by Commsport and it means that customers now have the option of enjoying a coffee without paying over the odds for Wi-Fi internet access.

"The launch of free Wi-Fi in Coffee Republic Bars will be a huge benefit and attraction to our customers," said Steven Bartlett, chief executive officer, Coffee Republic.

"People are increasingly looking for ways to access the internet on the move. They want to lead a flexible and modern lifestyle and we need to help them do that with the service we provide," he added.

The coffee chain has nearly 60 stores across the UK and Ireland and can also be found in cinemas and airports. The new free service rolls out on 1 May.
