Bond.com for sale
The name is Bond, Bond.com - and it could be yours for half a million pounds. The web domain of one of the most popular cinematic characters of the last 50 years is being offered in auction with a reserve price of $1m (505,000). Anyone logging on to bond.com at the moment would be surprised to see that Her Majesty's most famous servant and spy has nothing to show on his webpage. Domain name specialist Sedo is responsible for the auction which concludes next Thursday. Only last week Sedo sold pizza.com, netting its American owner millions in the process. Nora Nanayakkara, director of business development and sales at Sedo, said: "Short, simple and flexible, Bond.com is a prime example of a domain name which is likely to exceed its six-figure reserve." Should Bond.com reach its reserve price it will join Sedo's top 10 list which features Vodka.com, sold for $3m (1.5m) in 2006. In the whole history of the interent, the biggest seller ever is business.com which changed hands several times before being bought for $350m by Yellow Pages publisher RH Donnelley last year. www.bond.com www.sedo.co.uk
