Next PS3 firmware update imminent

It has been reported that Sony will launch version 2.4 of its firmware for the PlayStation 3 console on 18 June.

Unconfirmed rumours suggest that the update will include a 'Trophy' system, where high scores are rewarded by exclusive freebies.

More importantly, in-game communication between players is expected to be included, after a Sony executive dropped heavy hints that such a feature would be added some time this summer.

There could be a feature allowing video calling as well, though this will require additional hardware.
