Sony has issued the latest update to the PlayStation 3 firmware, version 2.36.
According to Sony, the update improves system stability for some software, though Sony didn't specify which games.
You will need 130MB of free space on your PS3's hard drive or removable storage media for the update, which you will be prompted to install the next time you connect to the PlayStation Network.
An update was widely expected to be announced today, but it was thought to be version 2.4 of the firmware. Though 2.4 is not ready yet, Sony said that it would include a dashboard-like feature that could be accessed in-game.
Sony also confirmed that it would include 'trophies', a system for rewarding the best gamers.
