A depleted Turkish side took on Germany last night in Basel in the first semi-final of the Euro 2008 tournament.

With several players injured and goalie Volkan Demirel still suspended, Turkish coach Fatih Terim had a selection nightmare and said he would consider sending third-choice 'keeper Tolgan Zengin on as an outfield player.
Both sides had suffered defeats in the tournament already, with Turkey losing to Portugal and Germany beaten by Croatia. However, Turkey had come from behind to win in their last three matches.
