Sony issues PS3 update 2.4

Sony has issued the long-awaited version 2.4 of the PlayStation 3 firmware.

New features in the update include a trophy system to reward the best players, facilities to communicate with other players in-game and customisable soundtracks.

You will be prompted to download the update the next time you log onto the PlayStation Network.

A video of the new features in version 2.4 can be seen on the PlayStation blog.

But gamers have been warned to steer clear of the site for the moment, after security firm Sophos found that it had been compromised by hackers.
