Firefox 2 gets an update

Mozilla has issued an update for the Firefox 2 browser, but will end support for the software in the next six months.

Firefox 2.0.0.15 is now available for Windows, Mac and Linux as a free download.

The latest update includes improvements to stability and security, though Mozilla warned that it would only be supporting Firefox 2 until mid-December.

"We strongly recommend that all Firefox users upgrade to this latest release. If you already have Firefox 2.x, you will receive an automated update notification within 24 to 48 hours," Mozilla said in a blog posting.

Mozilla is hoping to gradually get people using the older version of the browser to upgrade to Firefox 3, which was released last month.
