An Australian woman reputed to be the world's oldest blogger has passed away at the age of 108.

Olive Riley, who was born in the town of town of Broken Hill on 20 October 1899, began blogging in 2007, spurred on by a documentary maker.

She had posted over 70 entries on her blog (or 'blob' as she called it), All About Olive, before she died in an Australian nursing home on 12 July.

Olive blogged about everything from the Great Depression to ways of making yourself feel better when you're blue.

Responding to emails from around the world, she wrote in one post: "Me and my brothers and sisters had to walk to school, in hot, cold or wet weather. Once a week we marched into the yard, and recited "I love my country, I honour my King, I salute my flag."

In her final post on 26 June from the nursing home she resided in, she wrote about the visit of her neighbour's daughter, who is a singer.

"She and I sang a happy song, as I do every day, and before long we were joined by several nurses, who sang along too. It was quite a concert!"

The blog is currently down, most likely due to the volume of traffic, but all her posts are being hosted on a friends' blogs.
