Huge increase in UFO searches

The publication of secret UFO files on the National Archives site has led to an explosion in searches for spaceships.

Web User: MoD releases secret UFO files

UFOs are a much loved phenomena for the British public, with barely a week going by without a sighting of a flying saucer hovering over Wembley or Waterloo Bridge.

Online searches for UFOs have increased by 116 per cent from the beginning of May for a two-month period, according to Eva Stringleman, a research analyst with Hitwise UK.

The huge increase ties in with the release of declassified files from the Ministry of Defence, now available to view on the National Archives website.

The files are a treasure trove of extra-planetary sightings from across Britain covering the period 1978 to 2002, and are available to view for free for one month after the date of their publication online.

A spokeswoman for The National Archives told Web User that there has been great interest from the press and the public since the secret files were put on the net.

A poll carried out by The Sun newspaper reveals that half the people surveyed believe the government is hushing up the truth about UFOs. Nine per cent polled said they had seen a UFO.
